Youth leaders from the different Capuchin Parishes gathered at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes last February 23 to make preliminary plans for the upcoming Capuchin Youth Camp, slated on May 21-24. It seemed that the Holy Spirit indeed moved among these intelligent, joyful, and faith-filled young souls as they shared ideas, purified inspirations, and brought their hopes and aspirations to the table. BrRex Cutamora,OFMCap deftly guided their collective discernment and facilitated the rich flow of insight among them. Delegates to the meeting came from the St.Francis of Assisi Parishes of Pulo, Laguna and of Mandaluyong City, the Parishes of Ina ng Laging Saklolo and of Our Lady of Lourdes both in Tagaytay City, the San Jose Manggagawa Parish in Gen.Mariano Alvarez, Cavite, the host parish of the National Shrine, and its neighboring Sta.Teresita Parish.
The meeting was expected adjourned by 5pm but pushed on until 7pm. The group was able to formulate a statement of the Camp’s goal, as well as sketch the general themes and schedule for each day. The gathering was capped by attending the day’s last scheduled Mass at the Shrine. Everyone then went to the nearby Original Pares & Mami Restaurant for simple beef brisket dinner, its house specialty. Despite a somewhat lengthy wait for enough tables to accommodate all twenty delegates, they were still able to share a pleasant dinner together and separated ways on a good note shortly before 10pm. The Reverend Brother Deacon Rex volunteered to drive the out-of-town delegates back to their respective parishes even if it meant a round-about trip through Cavite province before heading home to Laguna. Thankfully, he and his companions arrived safely shortly after midnight.
It was an inspiration and a blessing that such vibrant and vivifying people collaborate to commit to rekindle, strengthen, and deepen the faith of their fellow youths.
