The Capuchin friars of the Philippines province gathered for the annual Easter Assembly at the Capuchin Retreat Center.
Brothers from as far as Mindanao had already started arriving the day before even if the Assembly, unofficially, began with sports at the brand new covered court of the Our Lady of Lourdes Seminary. Officially, though, the Assembly opened with the Lucernarium and Vespers presided by Br. Eugenio Lopez, Provincial Minister, assisted by Brs. Roberto San Diego, Peter Eugenio, Jesse Tejero, and Marlon Magdoza. In his message, Br. Eugenio warmly welcomed the brothers and enjoined each one to remember and celebrate, as a fraternity, Christ’s resurrection. Noting that this year’s Easter Assembly was unusually close to the Provincial Chapter (to be convened in a month’s time), he said that this Assembly was indeed meant to be “light” and to be more a reaffirmation and renewal of the frairs’ fraternal bonds. He also greeted Br. Francisco Armario on his 28th presbyteral anniversary, remembered the sickly friars who were unable to attend along with the brothers who cared for them, and encouraged the two friars soon bound for studies in Rome: Brs. Francis Mesina and Arnold Montealto.
After the evening liturgy, the brothers repaired to the renovated Padre Pio patio in front of the Capuchin Retreat Center.
