The Eleventh Provincial Chapter of the Order of Capuchin Friars Minor in the Philippines was held last 26-30 May 2014 at the Capuchin Retreat Center in Lipa City. Br.Victorius Dwiardy OFMCap, General Definitor for Asia and the Pacific, presided over sixty-eight capitulars, among whom was Malaysia Custos BrPaul Cheong, and two friar observers. BrAlberto Poblete OFMCap served as Chapter Secretary.
At the last day of this Chapter, Br.Eugenio Juanilo Lopez OFMCap was elected Provincial Minister for this triennium. He is joined by Brs.Ron Artemio Ojeda OFMCap, Roberto Peralta OFMCap, Leny Escalada OFMCap, and Agapito Feniz OFMCap who were elected Councilors (formerly ‘Definitors) of the Province for this triennium. Brs.Ron Artemio and Roberto return for a second term as Councilors while Brs.Leny and Agapito are new members of the team. The capitulars elected Br.Ron Artemio as Vicar.
Ten decisions were also made by this Chapter, ranging from issues concerning formation, temporalities, and apostolic presences. The five-day Chapter brought together the friars from all over the country for common discussion and discernment. Observer Brs.Michael Angelo Flores OFMCap and Ryan Labasa OFMCap both noted the importance of such fraternal dialogues and the value of the individual personalities of the friars in moving the Order forward in these islands.
God bless the Order!
