On September 1 to 4, 2014, Br. Eugenio Juanilo P. Lopez, OFMCap., Provincial Minister; Br. Edgardo V. Dumaual, OFMCap., Director of Tulay-Lingap ni Padre Pio (TLPP); Br. Joel E. de Jesus, OFMCap., PN-2 Director and Chairman of the Provincial Commission on Justice and Peace and Intergrity of Creation (PJPIC); Br. Ferdinand C. Caparas, OFMCap., member of the Capuchin Medical Mission (CMM) and the brothers in the second year of their post-novitiate formation went to Salcedo, Samar to inspect the houses built through the Capuchin Philippine Province from funds gathered for the victims of typhoon Yolanda. 16 houses are being built in the parishes of Our Lady of Salvacion and Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in Salcedo, Samar. Some of the houses are already fully constructed; some nearing completion.
The brothers also met some of the beneficiaries who were all grateful for the help the donors had given them and the assistance the Order had given them. The Province still plans to build 24 more houses in Our Lady of the Rosary Parish on a land acquired to resettle some fishing families who are presently living in a “no-build” area. While 10 more houses are to be built in Our Lady of Salvacion. The Province is also assisting in the reconstruction of the convent of Our Lady of Salvacion Parish.
The project is being supervised by Br. Edgardo V. Dumaual, OFMCap.
In relation to sponsoring the two parishes, the second year post-novices will be having an immersion in the two communities of the parish. CMM also plans a medical mission in each of the parishes.
