Re: Provincial Annual Retreat and AKAP 2014
Peace and all good!
First of all, I would like to greet all of you a happy and blessed feast day of our Seraphic Father Francis! It is quite unfortunate that we do not traditionally gather as a Province on the feast of St. Francis of Assisi itself. The difficulty of gathering on the feast day perhaps lies in the fact that some of our parishes and houses are under the patronage of our Seraphic Father- St. Francis of Assisi Fraternity in Mandaluyong City; St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Pulo, Cabuyao, Laguna; St. Francis of Assisi Fraternity (Ina ng Laging Saklolo Parish) in Sungay, Tagaytay City and beginning this triennium, to these are added Santuario de San Francisco in Laguit Padilla, Bugallon, Pangasinan and St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Davila, Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte. And so we delay our celebration of the feast of our founder until the days of AKAP. But be it so, I pray that all the brothers will have a joyful and meaningful celebration of the feast of our St. Francis of Assisi!
In connection with this, I reiterate my invitation to all brothers who will be able, to also attend this year’s Inter-Franciscan Ministers’ Conference Transitus on October 3, 2014, 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s College Mater Dei Auditorium. I know that some of our parishes will have their own celebration of the transitus of Francis but this is also an opportunity for all of us to meet and re-acquaint ourselves with the other members of the Franciscan Family. It is truly worthwhile to attend the celebration.
Secondly, I am writing you to remind you of our Provincial Annual Retreat on October 21 to 23, 2014 at the Capuchin Retreat Center, Lipa City. We revised the schedule from our Annual calendar to accommodate our student-brothers. This year’s Annual Retreat, “Consecrated Life and Poverty” will be conducted by Rev. Fr. Jose Rovira, CMF. I hope you have already gone through the outline of retreat which Fr. Rovira provided and which we sent to you a week ago. We are also attaching the liturgical assignments prepared by the Provincial Liturgical Commission for the retreat to this letter. Kindly make a note of your liturgical assignment if there is any. Aside from your breviary please bring a bible and a copy of the Capuchin Constitutions to the retreat.
Although the retreat starts in the morning of the 21st of October, the Capuchin Retreat Center will accommodate early arrivals on the 20th. Kindly inform Br. Antonio B. Alla II, OFMCap., guardian and CRC director in advance if you are arriving early so they can make provisions for your meals.
After our retreat, in the afternoon of October 23, Thursday, we shall begin the AKAP Celebration with the theme: “Bokasyong Franciskano, Buhay Capuchino.” You will also find attached to this letter the schedule of activities which the Provincial Commission on Organizing Activities prepared. AKAP ends during lunch of October 24.
We pray that these days of our gathering together as a Province will be Spirit-filled strengthening our life in Gospel brotherhood.
God bless you all!
Br. Eugenio Juanilo P. Lopez, OFMCap.
