March 27, 2016 –
“Tuloy pa rin!” As this line echoes from the hearts of the brothers who had just finished from their course in Bachelor of Arts Major in Religious Education, the Province, with heartfelt jubilation, thanks the good Lord for this another grace-filled year of formation. Five brothers received their diplomas, namely: Br. Evare Laborte, OFMcap [Cebu City], Br. Joenifer Ygonia, OFMCap [Pinamungahan, Cebu], Br. Bryan Bermejo, OFMCap [Baganga, Davao Oriental], Br. Ericson Pendoy, OFMCap [Baclayon, Bohol] and Br. Jusfer John Albert, OFMCap [General Santos City].
The ceremony started around 9:00 a.m. with a Baccalaureate Mass presided by Br. Eugenio Juanilo Lopez, OFMCap, the Provincial Minister at the Our Lady of Lourdes Seminary chapel. The lay professors served as the readers of the Mass and the postulants as the servers and the choir. Brother Provincial expressed the significance of the celebration with the liturgy of the day – being the Monday of the Octave of Easter – and noted in his homily the importance of truth and honesty.
After the mass, the graduation rite shortly followed. It started with the processional march of the graduating brothers, together with the lay professors represented by Ms. Norma Blanco. Ed.D and Mrs. Norma Ubaldo and the seminary admin, namely, Br. Edgar Martinez, OFMCap [Registrar / Postulant Director], Br. Eugenio Juanilo Lopez, OFMCa [Provincial Minister] and Br. Artemio Raymundo, OFMCap [Dean of Studies].
Br. Edgar delivered his opening remarks, after the singing of the National Anthem.
Afterwards, he presented the graduates to the Dean of Studies, who, by virtue of the power vested on him by the Commission on Higher Education, gladly confirmed the candidates as ‘graduates’. The giving of the diplomas followed done by Br. Artemio, assisted by Br. Eugenio and Br. Edgar.
Br. Evare, the batch representative, delivered the valedictory address. This is then followed by the rendition of the graduation song “Tuloy Pa Rin.” The whole celebration was attended by the brothers who will also be attending their Easter Assembly this week. A sumptuous lunch followed at the Capuchin Retreat Center.
With the spirit of St. Francis who exhorted those who study not to extinguish the spirit of prayer and devotion, the celebration ended with great gratitude and jubilation offered to the all- good Lord.
Br. Ericson D. Pendoy, OFMCap.
