PM VISITS SABAH, MALAYSIA

Br. Eugenio Juanilo P. Lopez, OFMCap., Provincial Minister traveled to Sabah, Malaysia last April 17, 2016 primarily to meet with Bp. Cornelius Piong, D.D. of the Diocese of Keningau. Together with Br. Michael Rayumond, OFMCap., newly-elected Custos of Malaysia-Singapore, Br. Valentine Gompok, OFMCap., Second Councilor of the Custody and Br. Gilbert James, OFMCap., Br. Eugenio had an audience with Bishop Cornelius concerning a piece land donated to the Custody at Bunga Raya. The discussion centered on the plans of the Custody to develop the land anmd so the brothers sought the permission of the bishop to able to do so. After the meeting with the bishop, the brothers also met with the lay partners of the Custody most of whom are members of the Secular Franciscan Order.

The Provincial Minister’s visit also gave him the opportunity to meet with the aspirants coming from Saban at Gethsemany Garden, Tambunan. The encounter with the aspirants proved to be fruitful with the brothers sharing with them their vocation stories and answering some of their vocation concerns. Br. Eugenio returned to the Province hopeful for the future of the custody after his visit to Sabah.
