The Philippine Province accepted seven (7) new novices (two Filipinos, two from Malaysia, two from Papua New Guinea and one from Korea) to the novitiate in St. Felix of Cantalice Fraternity in Baguio City last May 17, 2016.
The rite of acceptance to the novitiate happened at six in the evening, with the Provincial Minister of the Philippines, Br. Eugenio Juanilo Lopez, OFMCap., as the presider, who entrusted the new novices to the hands of the novice director, Br. Ron Ojeda, OFMCap. whom Br. Wilson Atienza, OFMCap. (Guardian) and Br. Noe Roxas, OFMCap. will help assist the director in the formation of the novices.
What makes this year’s acceptance quite unique from the previous years is that many of the brothers who are received to the novitiate are brothers coming from the other countries. Two of them are from Malaysia- Tony Bingkuan and Pius Kallang. Another two are from Papua New Guinea- Luke Tamane and Paul Mombea, and one from South Korea, Lawrence Lim Jong Jin. There are two Filipinos namely Aldrin dela Peña and Ian Kenneth Pamintuan.
After being invested with the brown habit, all the brothers who attended greeted and welcomed the new novices. The brothers who came were Br. Joe Matthews, OFM Cap., the representative from Malaysia, Br. Jonathan Williams, OFM Cap., the Custos of PNG, Br. Edgar Martinez, OFM Cap., Br. Mateo Goldaraz, OFM Cap, Br. Paulo Jesus Nazareno, OFM Cap., Br. Rolly Zoleta, OFM Cap. and some friars from St. Lawrence of Brindisi fraternity in Tagaytay also came.
The seven brothers have already begun their novitiate formation that evening, together with the other brothers, Jefferson and Roy.
