June 13, 2017 – It was a beautiful sunny morning when we celebrated the Mass of the Holy Spirit on the feast of St. Anthony of Padua – at the same time, marking the opening of a new formation year 2017-2018! Blessed for another term as our Provincial Minister, Fr. Eugenio Juanilo P. Lopez, OFMCap. presided over the celebration of the Holy Eucharist assisted by Rev. Paul Vincent A. Perlado, OFMCap., who, likewise gave quite a wonderful and nurturing homily.
His message seemed like a capsule of multivitamins propelling all – especially those in formation, in the right direction for the whole year and aptly indeed, for the years to come. Striking as to strengthen our immune system, he said, “The Lord should be the center of our lives and of our studies, for it is (and will be) empty, nothing – without the Lord.”
As, in a passing of torch, recounting his own experiences in the earlier years of his formation, he provided everyone – 34 attendees in all, the following life & spirit nurturing morsels of immense value that fosters and invigorates life in the path we are taking…
- “…with the Holy Spirit, no one is zeroed out…all of us have gifts (to impart) from our baptism.”
- “…learn to be a brother to each and everyone…(it is) a process of discovering; of learning to accept, to appreciate to understand and to forgive and to be open to our Brother Formators.”
- “…all learning should lead us to Him; to follow Him inspite of who we are…(for) all theology are nothing without the Lord.”
- “…to invoke theHoly Spirit – to inspire, strengthen and lead us.”
Fr. Domingo C. Velasco Jr., OFMCap., of the Human Formation Office and Fr. Rex I. Cutamora, OFMCap., who is also serving as the National Vocations Director, came in to see all 9 Brother Aspirants who have continued on in the journey here in Our Lady of Lourdes Seminary –among whom served as Altar Servers, Lector and Commentator.
The celebration won’t be as much joyful as it had been without the presence of our lay professors: Mr. PablitoRabago, Mrs. Norma Ubaldo and Dr. Norma Blanco.
All 7 Postulants and 7 Post Novice 1 Brothers of the Padre Pio Fraternity (CRC, Lipa) were all complete with Post Novice 4 Br. Christian Feliciano, OFMCap.
Our Brother-Formators of Our Lady of Lourdes Seminary, Fr. Flavio M. Lacson, OFMCap.who is serving as the Economo; Fr. Mateo O. Goldaraz, OFMCap. who is serving as the Guardian of the Seminary and Fr. Edgar S. Martinez, OFMCap. who is serving as our Postulant Director, were all present in the event.
As with every New Year’s eve, the celebration capped off with sweet and sticky delicacies and a sumptuous meal, giving an atmosphere bonded in Christ this formation year and the years to come.
